Definiti theaters are the next generation of planetarium. With fully digital projection, anything that is in 3D space can be explored on the giant dome screen. The highest-resolution Definiti theater, the Beijing Planetarium, projects over 35 megapixels on the screen (it actually inputs 24 HD streams--over 50 megapixels--and blends those streams to get one seamless 35 megapixel image).

There are dozens of Definiti theaters all over the world, showing everything from the latest astronomy shows and data to Notre Dame University's Definiti theater helping students with their course work. The world's first 3D stereo planetarium, the Definiti 3D theater in 'Imiloa Astronomy Center in Hawai'i, uses advanced filtering to get 3D stereoscopic full-color on a dome screen--a challenging task.
