About this user

My passion for design and creativity stems all the way from childhood. In nursery school, I was always the first one to run to the easel in order to create a work of art for my parents to put on the fridge door. I was drawing and painting so often that my parents even created my own gallery space within the house! My school teachers always recognised my talent for art & design and encouraged me to keep drawing and painting by involving me in every art project possible! One teacher even named me her 'little artist'.

Throughout my childhood I had the opportunity to do a lot of travelling and even lived in Florida for three years which opened my eyes to a wide range of life skills which I believe also boosted my creativity levels. Nothing beats natural beauty and by travelling the world, I was exposed to beauty on a number of different levels - from breathtaking scenery to vibrant cultures and exotic food. I soaked it all in. Living in the US taught me to be open, care-free and to seize every opportunity that came my way. It was at this stage that I knew I had to have a career in design. I was too passionate about it to let it slip through my fingers. I moved back to London, was one of the favoured students in my Design & Technology class then went on to college where the foundations of Art & Design were taught to me. My distinction was my ticket to the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design where I specialised in Multimedia Design.

Stepping on to the career ladder was tough as a new designer. Even though I had the qualifications, I lacked experience. However, with perseverance & a creative application, I managed to get my foot into the door of an advertising agency based in Fulham, London. I was finally designing for blue-chip clients nationwide! It was fast-paced and pressurised yet I loved it as it was an exciting time in the development of design and technology. New shopping malls were being built and refurbished across the UK and plasma screens showing advertisements within the malls were the new 'thang!' and it was also my responsibility to design these adverts. However, high rental costs in London forced the advertising agency to relocate up north and I was left to figure out what to do next.

After taking some time out, I seemed to develop a keen interest in marketing with design. After all, what's the point in being a designer if you can't market your creations? It was at this point that I landed a job at a business and technology consultancy and there was an opening for someone to take charge of the marketing and design department. Yep, you guess it - soon enough, I filled that gap.

7 years in the industry had passed and even though I had a successful run of opportunities, I still felt that a part of me was unfulfilled. I didn't think I was reaching my full potential and so I decided to do something about it. I learnt (and still continue to learn) all the latest online marketing strategies including marketing across social media networks and SEO techniques, along with the latest design technologies. I wanted to share my skills and experience; not only with the business & technology consultancy that I work for, but with other companies, business start-ups and entrepreneurs too. I reduced my working hours; decided to become a Design Consultant and have been inundated with projects ever since. But the story doesn't end there. Whilst being a Design Consultant I've noticed something vital that is missing from most marketing campaigns, both online and offline. CREATIVITY. So, it is now my mission to bring out the creative side of you which we all possess. Even if you are a left-brain (logical) thinker, there are techniques you can learn in order to boost your creativity levels which will empower the way you generate ideas for your business and marketing material. These skills, coupled with my design and marketing expertise make a very powerful combination. A combination which you have the opportunity to unlock.
