Wow I looked up the owner of this car and was shocked to find out that he passed away in 2008 at the very young age of 31 from apparent heart failure. Really sad. He was a legend in the AU LS car community. Amazing car that he owned too. RIP Lyle Lemon.

@TheGazdik both the LT1 and LS1 were underrated, as shown by the many stock dyno runs and 1/4 mile passes. In reality, LT1=300-320(corvette version) hp and LS1=330-340hp

I'm impressed the LT1 stuck right with the LS, considering he's got another 50ish hp right from the boot and the LT has more weight(convertible). Nice!

@98DemonZ28 Already been through the dist. Thanks for the advice. I'm a DIY kinda guy and would not have the extra $2-3000 that an LS car would've costed($4-6k all around my area) for a pretty long time. Rather spend it on my turbo setup. Best of luck to you too.

I dont get why people diss them because "it's a neon". Who cares! I drive an LT1 Trans Am and I respect the hell out of what they did with this car. I say kudos to anyone who brings a car back from the dead, whether it be a Chevelle SS or "neon".

If I could, I'd put a LS3 in my TA! :P Really though, I was kinda impressed that the LT1 kept up even with the lighter chassis and more mods. After all, it's being put against a cammed engine which stock put out atleast 390hp, over the LT1's 275.

@7194690 late gen SRT-4s have around 260 hp stock(don't quote me on this, just basing it off dyno runs and stock 1/4 times I've seen over the years)

Also keep in mind that an srt-4 is a 2.4L, 4g63t is a 2.0.

A GSX(awd) is about 3150-3200 lb(I know, I own a 1g), GST is around 2900.

Auto>manual if you have more than stock torque. Only time a 5 or 6 speed is better, from what I've seen, is in a bone stock car and in rally/auto cross/non-drag racing.

Most built drag cars are autos(note: V8s. Most 4 and 6 cyl drag cars are manual, to have more control over boost lag on launch)...

I agree, ofcourse. A turbo 4 or 6 will always have /some/ lag at lower rpm. I live near a dragstrip, in a city that is mostly dominated by muscle, so having a turbo car is very fun right now because it's unique, and also VERY cheap to get power from compared to most NA V8s in the same price range...

I'll be honest...it looks like no one in the video other than the "teg" was racing...the Eclipse is going about the same speed as the car that's next to him.

I'm a big DSM fan myself, but the LSX absolutely demands respect from all. 550+ hp and built to handle 2500 right out of the crate. 454 cammed LSX is the best sounding V8 produced imo. absolutely rabid!

DSMs get a bad rep because they are very cheap(still a third to half the price of the LS1s) so kids are much more likely to buy one(usually a 2g) and attempt to mod it very poorly wit...
