I disagree with John to a certain point, I think when you improvise the fretboard should become transparent to you, and there should not be a formular for what to play. Its kinda like when you speak you don't think about what to say next or what your chord-string needs to do it just happens natur...
yeah its really just a standard chord progression, E, A and D major.. where he adds the pentatonic notes from each position outlining a melody.. instead of just playing the chord an 4 bars he creates a melody via the pentatonic ''box''
