In March '08 going to the American Atheist Conference helping out at the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science. On the blog you can read about my experience at the Atheist Alliance International Conference '07.

I am a moderator on www.richarddawkins.net/forum, and a volunteer for the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science. Recently I attended the Atheist Alliance International Conference of 2007, which you can read about on my blog. To a lesser extent I contribute to www.asktheatheists.com/. My user name on both is Homo economicus but my real name is John Sargeant.

My childhood experiences in the Jehovah's Witnesses, has made me particularly concerned about the labelling and indoctrinating of children. Hence one of the reasons why I am active, not least because a false view of science is promoted, and reason is effectively butchered in an attempt to allow dogma to reign supreme. Free thinking in such an organisation is not encouraged.

I am available for public speaking and talking about what it is like to grow up in such a cult and give advice on how you deal with relatives or friends who are members. Also available to those who are members themselves or have left that just want to talk - trust me it will be confidential and I am not going to judge you.

At the conference I have met so many people, both academics, writers and activists, that have encouraged me in the writing of this blog and in my posts on the forum as well as activism. This includes giving blood against Jehovah's Witness dogma which would refuse a blood transfusion for an infant with critical blood loss - basically labelling a child with a parent's belief and unnecessarily putting a child's life at further risk.I hope that you may be encouraged to do the same and to make that easier I have started a new blog on that which is about The Blood Challenge - Life over Death http://thebloodchallenge.wo...
