UPDATE: David Bray Amps has relocated to Southern California!

I am quite happy to announce that David Bray Amps has moved to Southern California, and is now located in Yucca Valley, 37 miles north of Palm Springs.

The new phone number is 760-418-5729.

* * * *

Welcome to David Bray Amps! Sit back, relax....and I'll tell you a little about what I have to offer in the world of guitar amplification.

I am offering handwired, point-to-point "Plexi" style amps, using top shelf componants and transformers, custom-built by myself to the client's tonal desires and needs. These models are the "50", the "45", the "100", and the "45/50".

Or, you can send me your amp for a Mod/Rework. If you buy an amp elsewhere, such as eBay, you can have it shipped directly here, email me for the shipping address.

The main theme I go for when building or reworking an amplifier is increased musicality. What this means is the amp is much more enjoyable to play through. Almost all of us have had those special experiences where you are playing through a certain rig, and it draws you in to the point where you literally cannot stop playing your guitar. Soon, it's 4 am, and your significant other is wondering where you are.

On any amp that I build or perform a Mod/Rework on, I record a soundclip of your amp and send it to you to hear, prior to shipping, to make sure it is exactly what you want.

For Mod/Reworks, the brands that people send me the most are Marshalls and Fenders, including clones. If you have something different, though, don't be afraid to ask. I also provide other amp work, as well as work on other amps. Feel free to email me...I am more than happy to answer your questions.

Going to the NAMM 2012 show? Test drive a Bray 4550 at the CSG Guitars booth #2883, and try out one of Rick Channell's beautiful creations at the same time.

Absolutely awesome sounding amplifiers (the holy grail of hot-rodded, classic hard rock tones). Hope to own one of your amps some day when the ol' finances get better. Cheers & keep rockin' those amazing tones!

Hi from Dublin Ireland David love your modification those sounds like the ultimate Marshall plexi to me the crunch distortion are sweat with punch and rich harmonics, great sustain with no high gain mud or fiziness,
great definition if i could afford one that what i will go for the best i heard and i have been playing for years going and trying a lot's of different gear.
so i know a thing or two about good or bad tones your Marshall moded tones are awesome !
take care and god bless !!

While I consider myself to be an average player, many have complimented my playing, my feel and my tone. My tone is what I take the most pride in as to be honest everyone has good and bad days. Without a doubt, I have spilled some blood in the mud that is trying to find my tone. After playing and owning Peters, Soldano, Countless Marshalls, Peaveys, etc... I have found what I believe to be the best thing to happen to my playing in a long time. David has an ability to understand what players want and offer it at a price thats attainable. In addition, he manages to not cut corners on fit and finish, simplicity or tone. Thank you David, you have one more FIRM supporter of your work.

your amps sound really nice where can i buy one?
Rrracket (2 years ago)
Hi David, I'm very interested. I'm thinking it's better to buy one your custom amps rather than take a chance on buying a high dollar pre-74 that may not sound near as good. Can you please post videos of your 100 watter? thanks
