About this user
My name is David A. Smith. I am a 48 year old physically challenged young man who enjoys mechanics and electronics. I live in the suburbs of Union County, New Jersey, in the house I grew up in since I was born. Ten years ago both my parents died and left me the house in my name and I am on a special program run by the State Of New Jersey and Eater Seals, called Self Determination, where the state provides me an annual budget to pay for a live-in care aide, daily house hold utilities and real-estate taxes. The mortgage on the house was paid off by my parents before they died. However, I am unemployed for around 15 years now when my parents started having health problems. I am on Social Security and my Dad's pension, which gives me about enough a month to buy my food, pay for phone, internet, tv, etc. I have competed my high school education about 29 years ago and went on to local college and studied business management, mathematics, mechanics, electronics, computer science, including studying the Unix Operating System and mechanical engineering and drafting with CAD/CAM. In fact, the County College Of Morris, in Randolph, New Jersey, hired me to be their Systems Administrator for their Mechanical Engineering Dept. Yes, I was a God of their CAD/CAM classrooms keeping everything humming as well as helping the students answer their questions about AutoCAD and ME10/ME30 programs. I missed those times now though. However, I am not a person that sits and does nothing. I am always keeping myself busy on my computer and designing and working on projects with my friends. As I write you describing myself, I am using a special input interface device, due to a physically challenge problem that I have, which I don't have the physical use of my hands to operate a normal computer mouse. In fact, I am the person who invented this special input interface device 25 years ago, which I named, the RAT because it's larger than the mouse. ;-) The RAT input device allows me to do everything you can do with a mouse. I can point, click, drag, double-click, draw, sketch, etc. I have been doing mechanical drafting with CAD/CAM for several years now with the RAT input device and have manufactured them in a small quantity to sell to other individuals who are in my physical situation almost around the world.Age
