ME? I'm a Christian. A child of the King. A Saint. I'm learning to identify myself by what God says about me. Don't ask me if I'm Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, gay or straight. Nor will I limit myself to Pentecostal, Methodist, or any other denomination. Those are manmade labels which put us in bondage, while we prejudge and exclude others. Christ would have accepted none of these. He loves, and calls, all people.
MY PURPOSE? First and foremost: to further the Gospel of Christ. To open blind eyes, or at least to get some with eyes pressed shut to squint one open. To get those who think they have God neatly packaged up in their minds, to realize God's ways cannot be put in a box. They become defensive anytime someone challenges their views and refuse to risk thinking outside the polyhedron. Don't you understand? If it IS God's truth, it will prevail in ANY challenge!(1 Kings 18: 20-39) The message succeeds when, instead of constructing a wall to keep "THEM" out, we build a bridge and invite everyone to cross. Is this not the Gospel of reconciliation? My hope is also to learn from others who hunger and thirst after righteousness. Those seeking truth, GOD'S truth (redundant, but for clarity), will surely be filled, but only when we empty ourselves of our own agendas and abandon our comfort zones, and our GOD box.
MY MODUS OPERANDI? To speak the Truth in Love; and when I can't do that... to listen and be silent until I can. If I'm not acting in LOVE it won't be long before I depart from the truth. You will notice I fail at this on occasion. Since my capacity for UNDERSTANDING truth will be ever changing, and will remain imperfect until THAT DAY, when I err, Lord, let me err on the side of LOVE. I think someone said that once.(Matthew 12:20)
WHAT I HOPE OF RESPONDEES: Tell me when something I've said makes you think. I could use the encouragement. Better yet, tell me when something I've said makes you go to GOD and ask Him about it. If He tells you something different, feel free to share it with me. Straw-man arguments, will be humbly disassembled and fed to the horses.(Okay so horses eat hay not straw. Work with me here!) Faux-constructive critisizm, such as "Why don't you pull your head out of your ass" is discouraged. My problem isn't with occasional "profanity" for emphasis, but with the attitude that usually accompanies a string of 4 letter words. So, for the sensibilities of others, I suggest the use of more appropriate descriptive terms.If you speak with disresect or name calling, you will lose credibility. Consequently, if you find yourself blocked or your rant/slur removed from the comments section, you will know why. Lets not make that necessary because...
FINALLY: God is a God of reconciliation. It is His longing & deep desire to see us, His pearl of great worth (Matt 13:46), turn to Him and depend on Him. He loves us way more than I even have a clue of. It was Christ's prayer that we become one and that will never happen if we don't talk to one another, and accept each other as brothers.
