Thank you, serenaluce, for the tip on Theodora Baka. I've just finishing listening to an excerpt of her and she is an extraordinarily expressive mezzo. I'm adding her to my mezzo list.

I recommend either mezzo Kristina Hammarstrom (always a reliably satisfying performance ) or alto Marie-Nicole Lemieux (in good form with clean coloratura, not always true for her, and such a gorgeous voice). Both of these ladies easily out-sing Sonia in this aria.
