About Me:

I am mainly a writer for TV, although recently I have been working with two fellow writers on a movie script. I also work as a journalist (on special projects or called in to cover major events).
Periodically I have material of my own published.
Occasionally my time is given to medical charities or aid agencies.
Hometown:
Living and travelling between Canada and the UK
Schools:
College/University
Movies:
I love a whole range of movies, with particular interest in: On the edge of your seat drama, comedy that makes you laugh out of control, or movies with a clever twist (especially if I've not already figured it out). I loved the 'Fast and Furious' films, but was green with envy at not having one of those cars!! The writers of the 'Ice Age' movies were clever, especially in regard to the ever persistent squirrel. (I regularly go back to funny YouTube videos that make me laugh.)
Music:
I like many different types of music, from house shaking high energy dance and techno, to something calming like Enya (my mothers fault).

Having got through the madness of 2011 (see below) I ended the year rested, having also completed writing a movie script with two other writers (finally). Filming will start around Easter time and as movies take ages to film - then drag through editing and post production, estimates for when it will hit Movie Theatres (Cinema's) is a guesstimate.

*Out of Danger*
The last few months have been the most intense of my life, and I'm glad to have spent the last week resting in the UK, before going back home to Canada soon.. but not before the Royal Wedding.
After doing my usual two TV scripts over the winter (One co-written with a friend), the world became chaos!
** I've spent time reporting for news agencies in the middle of a smashed and battered Japan. I stood after the waters had finally receded, in a state of pure shock. My brain understood it, but it could not comprehend the utter vastness of the destruction.
I was then moved across to Libya which is still in chaos; war is not so shocking - Mans inhumanity to man!
Lastly I gave my own time in the border refugee camps (UNHCR).
Revolutions have happened, and elsewhere people are murdered, just for wanting justice and peace for their people, away from brutal dictatorship.

Although I've travelled between Canada and the UK for a few years now, a month or so ago I made a quick visit back to Canada for a wedding, and it made me fell really home sick..
**Well now I'm actually back home, and it's just the time of year to do most of my writing work for TV (ready for filming mid next year and broadcasting near the end of 2011). I have two TV scripts which I am working on, plus a couple of projects when thats done - I'm also planning a visit to the US to meet with friends xXx
> I will post funny, interesting or wierd stuff i've found right here on my YouTube website (when I get around to it). Sorry friends in the UK, but as you know I'm not officially back until late spring/early summer ;-)

As a number of you would have noticed, I was commissioned to work on reporting the Papal visit to the UK - And I added video highlights here for those who were interested. (Nothing should be assumed in relation to my own personal beliefs).
The visit was very interesting, and many historical landmarks were set in place. **For a while a link will be available on the left < which will take you to the official visit website.

I laughed so much this evening after watching a mid way episode of a new TV comedy - I was not directly involved but my name was slipped in in a very funny way. This was clever and sneaky and no one leaked the information, so I was completely taken by surprise ;-)
>It's a good series, but kick it up a notch darling! xXx

I moved down to London to have meetings ahead of the British Academy Awards (Television). *I sincerely hope that some of the top YouTubers will make it into the realms of international television* Now that its been broadcast I can comment.. I will personally say that its sad that the public aren't able to vote for more of the awards, rather than just a single special 'YouTube' one. Attending is a mix of emotions: Sometimes you clap and cheer at a real talent, and other times you just.. Zzz.. What annoys me is the, "oh this award is such a surprise". I openly commend those who thanked the writers because its nice to be appreciated. >Those in the television industry who had died were remembered - One of them I knew personally. He was so sweet, funny and kind and it's a great loss. YouTube will carry sections of the awards.. At least you can choose the bits to watch :-)

To answer some recurring questions: (1) The biggest audience for my work was initially 15 Million, and it so captured the public's imagination that it ran for 5 days - equivalent to 75 Million hits! **There are people on YouTube that deserve a bigger audience** This was then added to a book published by BBC Worldwide.. It was a collection of writings from different people that raised money for charity. (2) I don't produce videos for YouTube because currently I'm under an exclusivity contract. I also prefer to be behind the scenes and am happy just to have my name in the credits, though often writers are not credited, especially if your writing for a TV personality. (3) I know that the top YouTubers work very hard, they act, film, edit and upload. Some give video replies to questions and comments. Doing that several times a week takes a long time, and I admire those who do that.

I write material for television and radio, I've also had items used for publication. I work to provide scripts and materials for others to present, (I've only once appeared on national TV). Not only have I directly provided material, but I've helped create and nurture ideas ready for broadcasters to use.
The quality of material on YouTube has improved so much, so know that broadcasters are looking at you, (many YouTubers have matured artistically).
Don't give up but provide the best you can. If you have an agent, don't be afraid to contact international broadcasters who are already keeping an eye on you.
I am currently off work due to ill health - so any request for help with script analysis or assessing ideas is very limited.
Increased Cable, Satellite and Digital Terrestrial channels mean *Broadcasters need content* So keep up the good work and I urge you to be proactive. Don't wait for a call, make arrangements to go and present your ideas. Good Luck.
