I am a SAHM to three little ones ranging from 7 all the way down to 2 years. All were born at home with a wonderful midwife. We homeschool so that keeps me busy. We also participate in our local farmer's markets where we sell handmade soaps, handspun yarns, homemade sourdough breads and German kuchens.I just started spinning last fall (2004) on a spindle I got in a barter. I taught myself how to do it and then a few months later realized that there were actually books on it. LOL So I got one which helped me a little more in understanding the concept of spinning. I was hooked on spinning after about a month so decided I wanted to save for a wheel. Wow, can they be spendy. Anyways, I saved all winter, spring and summer and finally had enough to purchase a used wheel after doing a number of farmer's markets. I thought it was fast when I got a bigger spindle to spin on, but nothing compared to how fast you can spin on a wheel. I purchased some fiber online and now am searching for local fiber places. I plan on spinning our own yarns for making hats, scarves and mittens to sell at markets. We use the farmer's markets to make extra money for purchasing homeschool materials so this will be fun. My 6 year old and 4 year old are very interested in spinning so I am trying to teach them how to spin on their spindles. What a great hobby to do together.
I enjoy the following hobbies: cooking, baking, soap making, candle making, bread baking, photography, crocheting, spinning, knitting, naalbinding, herbs, aromatherapy and singing.
