MILES, a British Jamaican dreams of being a musician but his brother has just died of a drug overdose, his mother has fled to Jamaica and he is angry.
His friend LANRE, an immigrant rescued from a massacre in Africa by his Grandmother, is determined that education is the key to success but his studies are affected when his Grandmother has a stroke.
MILES has deep guilt feelings about his brothers death and in a spontaneous 'Good Samaritan" act saves a white homeless guy, Eddie, from suicide but it means a set responsibilities that he is unprepared for.
Eddie used to be somebody in the heavy metal music world and is not an easy guy to live with.
Meanwhile LANRE rents his sisters room to JAMES, a naïve young white male student nurse, just moved to London from a small provincial town. LANRE hopes that JAMES can help him look after his Mother so he can continue full time studies.
Meanwhile MILES discovers his father is MALCOLM, a Black X-Professional football player, who's career was cut short by injury; he's now a butcher in Harlesden and coaches the local kids football team.
