David Tyrrell (Born 1978, Liverpool) Singer/Songwriter
' Quote '"Time, sweet time, it always works itself out, yes it does"
Already known for his excellent song writing and unique vocals, David is a well known face on the northern music scene. And now become a well respected songwriter, as someone with drive and belief as a man thinking anything can be done with his obsessive lust for creating music. Following the release of his Debut album 'Substance' in 2009 along with his first UK tour, and 2010's expiring project which comes in the form of the much harder edged band The Soviet, who have just recently supported The Happy Mondays on there Hacienda World Tour, his musical journey is on the rise, with recent achievements including his track "Square Eyes" from the "19 Hours" album being chosen for a sound track to a film called "The Dinner Party" which was premiered at the Odeon London on the 2nd Dec 2010 which the band attended. Also a video of Davids song Icon shot by Martin Chart and then edited by himself won a Best music Award at WIFF 2010.
When he first began his move onto the music scenes, his arrival was fast and enlightening, receiving raving reviews in many magazines and newspapers throughout the UK with music reporters like Ian Young BBC saying things like"if it wasn't for new artists like David shouting from the sidelines the music industry would cease to exist" He has also mounted up masses of radio air time including a live BBC Session with Dave Monks'''' and soon built up enough fans to sell out the 02 Academy Liverpool on his headlining tour on the 7th of August 2009, after performing extensively up and down the UK promoting his first album.'
Some of the artists David played alongside on the Substance tour were Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols) and the indie chart-toppers Doves.
When he first arrived on the local music scene of his home town at the beginning of 2008 after penning the track "The Entire World" it soon caught the ears of an Oxford based record label resulting in the signing of a single deal early on in his career with Matchbox/Universal At this point DT had no band members and was creating his music alongside electro based backing tracks and playing every instrument. These were later produced with Neil Burne at Realistic Studio's. Not long after this it was decided that to give these tracks justice on stage DT would need a live band and with this joined Chris McKeown and John Mulholland. Still without a drummer the indie/electro trio kept the backing tracks, which they found added a uniqueness and was not the stereotypical scouse band and that soon spread across the underground music scene, gathering more success.
David soon went on to win The Beat Goes On' with the track 'Believe' through a public vote resulting them being put into the Liverpool World Museums' Digital Jukebox. This led to a second record deal at OKRecords in Birmingham, giving the guys a chance to release a five track EP. Soon after this he began working with Michael Reilly from N3M Northern Music, a promotions company that gave DT the chance to perform live on various radio stations, appear on SKY TV and perform for two years running at the ITC festivals. Unfortunately by the end of 2009 the band were feeling the strain and a break up was on the horizon.
David created The Soviet and got it under way virtually straight after the band split at the end of 2009, with a new manager Neal Clague stepping in and now consisting of Ben Grant on drums, David Hall on guitar, Chris Mckeown on bass and DT as the soul drive with writing & leading the band with guitar & vocals. The four lads recorded the debut album with Neal Burne yet again and Mastered 19 Hours at Abbey Road studios in London where he worked with Geoff Pesche who has been involved with everyone from artists such as (Radiohead, Snoopdog, Kylie) Whilst the lads was outside Abbey Road the band was approached and so they had been interviewed by CBS News America over talks about the whispers that Abbey Road was to be sold. To later find out was false.
David is about to step into a more heart felt direction now going back to his acoustic based style of writing and is planning to record a brand new album with the help from 'Brian Nash' (Frankie Goes to Hollywood) starting January 2011.
