DANIEL R. SOLOMON (Writer/Director/Editor/DP)

Daniel Solomon is an award-winning writer and director with more than
fifteen screenplay, feature documentary, short film and stage projects to
his credit. In 2003 he was named one of the top 250 directors in
Miramax/HBOs Project Greenlight 2002-2003 for his short film STOPLIGHTS.
More recently, in 2006 STOPLIGHTS garnered the grand prize at the
inaugural NEXT GENERATION SHORT FILM COMPETITION in Orlando, FL,
sponsored by Kodak, Panavision and Hollywood Rentals. Throughout
2005, Solomon immersed himself in the hill country of North Carolina and
the world of stock car racing. The first product from this experience was
Solomons script RACE CITY USA (named after the nickname for
Mooresville, NC where the story is set) which was named one of 30 finalists
out of more than 3600 scripts in the 9th Annual Scriptapalooza
International Screenwriting Competition. RACE CITY USA is currently in
development as an independent feature film. Solomon is also
developing a TV series pilot entitled DIRT TRACK DREAMS, which chronicles
the competition between up and coming stock car drivers. He intends
to direct this pilot in late 2010. In addition, Solomon is in development on
another independent feature entitled Video Vandals.
Also in 2007 Solomon made it to the final 200 directors out 17,000 in Steven
Speilbergs ON THE LOT filmmaking competition. Solomon and his crew
Psycho Film Binge won the Best of City Award for Jacksonville in the 2007
48 Hour Film Project with their film EASTER BUNNY SUPER HERO. This film also
took 7 out 15 overall awards including Best Costuming, Best
Cinematography, Best Screenplay and Audience Choice. As a result it
was invited to the international stage of the competition, which took
place at Cinequest in the Spring of 2007. Most recently two of Solomons
latest short films NATALIJA and THE WIRE TRIP were slated to have their
world premiere at the 6th Annual Jacksonville International Film Festival.
The WIRE TRIP went on to win Audience Choice, Best Cinematography,
Best Actor and Best Editing at the awards ceremony for the 2008 48 Hour
Film Project. Currently Solomon is on the film festival circuit with THE
ASSASSINS WIFE a short historical fiction piece focused on the last hours
between the Kennedy assassin and his wife and has just finished his
seventh feature script SOUTHERN GOTHIC which is currently in
development.
