The videos to follow were each created by teams of 2-4 Rutgers University students enrolled in the Jr/Sr Colloquium classes "Ethics in Science and Society" and "Issues in Animals and Agriculture" under the direction of Dr. Julie Fagan, Associate Professor in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers University. Students do an in-depth investigation on an issue/problem of particular interest to them with individuals who have like interests but very different opinions and ways of thinking. After problem solving, the group, with the professors input, then conducts a community service project designed to make a positive impact on society. The professor strives to ensure individual success and draw out each individuals' strengths, knowledge and creativity. The motivation to learn and do well in the class, in addition to earning a good grade, is strengthened by the satisfaction of and positive feedback from making a difference in society, the responsibility of being an engaged member of a peer group, creating, producing and potentially publishing the required final products which include a collaboratively-written classipedia, production of a video and individually submitted editorials. Enjoy the videos and contact me if you would like further information.
