About this user

This site honors Rev. Richard D. Henton, and the meticulous work of my late father Lee Spearman who made the Monument of Faith Breakthrough Hour a considerable example of African-American sanctified church culture, from which you can yet feel the same power emitted since the very first day the program aired.

I am the son of the late Lee Roy Spearman, Senior Producer/Director 1976-2008 of the Monument of Faith Breakthrough Hour@ the Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church. My mother is Florida Spearman, the official church announcer since 1964 through 2009. My brother and I came to Monument in 1964 with our mother. My father officially joined in 1975.

My pastor/evangelist is the church founder, Apostle Dr. Richard Daniel Henton.

Pastor Henton baptized me, my brother and mom; performed my wedding ceremony and that of my brother; christened all of our children; eulogized my father and my paternal grandmother; paid respects to both late grandfathers and late maternal grandmother; and has been guest in the Spearman home on several occasions. I was saved (received Christ as Savior) at his church and received the Holy Ghost during a fast directed by Pastor Henton. I have admired this man my entire life, from the time we rode in his 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood to dinner, to the occasion he received a politician to his pulpit named Barack running for the U.S. Senate.

I was an audio engineer, television co-producer/director, editor, and camera operator/videographer since 1976, as a teen working with my father. The Breakthrough Hour radio broadcast premiered in April 1976, Sunday 7PM, on 105.9 WXFM. We also aired on Tuesday nights 11PM on 92.3 WYCA. The Breakthrough Hour television program premiered in December 1978 and was the television standard for religious programming in Chicago on WCFC TV38, for many years. Our broadcast was also national & international through satellite and transcription. We produced our first TV program in November 1978. Five of us who started working then and throughout early 1980s have achieved the prestigious EMMY® Award, under the tutelage of Lee Spearman, within major media outlets since the internship days at our church.

The color-corrected/audio-reedited videos featured on this YouTube site are from my training tapes used to critique our television production work from 1978 to 1983. They are absolutely NOT for sale from this location, and are for viewing/enjoyment purposes only. Color-correction is a painstakingly tedious process where extremely dark video can be lightened, by transferring it from VHS then digitizing it one-selection-at-a-time. If not for modern technology, these tapes would be unviewable/unshareable.

I yet believe in sanctification, the full Gospel, and the Holy Ghost. My name is David Lee Roy Spearman.
