For over three decades Disc Golf Association® has worked both in the forefront and behind the scenes to sow the seeds of disc golf. The roots of the sport begin with "Steady" Ed Headrick, the founder of DGA and the driving force responsible for the modern day era of Disc sports.

"Steady" Ed is recognized as the father of all disc sports and commonly remembered for inventing the modern day Frisbee and the Superball. Ed founded the International Frisbee Association (IFA), Disc Golf Association (DGA), the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), installed the first formal disc golf course and standardized the sport. Ed coined and trademarked the term "Disc Golf" before donating the DGA Trademark "Disc Golf" to the public domain.

Ed Headrick worked tirelessly at the Disc Golf Association (DGA) Until his death. Steady ED suffered a stroke while attending the PDGA Amateur Worlds at Kendall Park in Florida and later past away surrounded by his loving family and close friends at his home in California. It was "Steady" Ed's wishes that once he passed away his ashes be incorporated into discs so that his soal could fly free. "Steady" Ed loved the Disc Golf and Frisbee® community and wished them to have his discs.
