The "ballad" is called "Rasga o coração" (Tear the Heart)) often attributed to Catulo da Paixão Cearense. Catulo, however, only stole the melody from "Yara" (a femine given name) a "polka" wrtten and recorded by Anacleto de Medeiros, conductor of the Rio de Janeiro Fire Department Band.
