"L'Enfer a été recouvert par les désirs et le Paradis l'a été par ce qui est pénible."
Le Prophète Mouhammad (sallallâhou alayhi wa sallam) apporte ici deux informations essentielles par rapport à l'orientation que le musulman et la musulmane peuvent donner à leur vie future. Il (sallallâhou alayhi wa sallam) dit d'abord:
"L'enfer a été recouvert par les désirs", ce qui signifie que, pour l'être humain, le moyen le plus sûr et le plus direct pour arriver en Enfer consiste à suivre constamment ses tentations, c'est-à-dire ses désirs portant sur des attitudes et des choses interdites ou qui conduisent vers ce qui est prohibé.
"Le paradis est dissimulé par ce qui est pénible",c'est-à-dire que celui qui aspire au Paradis doit forcer son ego -son nafs- à accepter de faire des choses éprouvantes... En quoi consistent ces choses pénibles auquel le Prophète Mouhammad (sallallâhou alayhi wa sallam) fait allusion ? Les commentateurs de ce Hadith écrivent en substance qu'il s'agit de tous les devoirs que le croyant est tenu de s'acquitter pour se rapprocher d'Allah, comme par exemple:
- Le respect des actes d'adoration et des rituels.
- La constance dans la pratique religieuse.
- L'effort pour se protéger des propos et des actes interdits.
S'acquitter de ces devoirs n'est évidemment pas aisé et demande un gros effort sur soi, un véritable djihâd oun nafs.Mais c'est là le prix à payer pour accéder au Paradis.
