I have studied and researched the life of George Armstrong Custer and the Battle of the Little Bighorn for the past 24 years. I have filmed several documentaries on the battle and go to the battlefield every year. To date I have been to the battlefield 45 times (separate days). I am a Custer supporter, as well as a supporter of the Indians that fought him. Some may consider that a contradiction, but I do not. All that fought and died there on June 25-26, 1876 deserve our respect. All should be remembered and none should be forgotten.

I agree with almost everything you said. The only place I disagree slightly is with Custer's intentions. I do believe that after the Ford D trek Custer did realize that he needed more men to capture the non-combatants. Therefore his movements on the battlefield were not so much a diversion, as they were an attempt to hold the area until the recalled units arrived. Once Benteen, and maybe even the pack train arrived, Custer would then have enough men to capture the women and children.
