Crystal Favel - Biography Published Writer, Motivational Speaker & Multimedia Producer Crystal Favel has reached out to over 400,000 fans in hopes to inspire the world through motivational writing, speaking and production events. To contribute to the solidarity of the Native Community she founded her own multimedia production company, "Urban Indian Productions Inc." She is a proud member of the Métis nation, born in North Vancouver and currently residing in Vancouver, BC. Her trail blazing ideas and projects exude innovation and excellence as she follows in her ancestoral footsteps and writes her heart out in music, prose and communication products. She received her first writing commendation in grade three and received outstanding story recognition at such a young age. By the time she was 18 years old she had several of her published works featured in Beedaudjimowin Newspaper in Toronto, Ontario. Such examples of interviews, book reviews and conference reports were published by Beedaudjimowin as part of a three month internship as an Aboriginal Photojournalist. Throughout her writing journey she has received training and gained knowledge at Ryerson University in Toronto and Emily Carr University in Vancouver as a published writer.
Crystal Favel has 20 years of technology experience, 10 years leadership experience, several awards, certificates and milestones that validate her mission and positive attitude. During her seven year career with the public service she wrote feature articles for Communications and won awards in Transport Canada for her motivational hard work. She has been deemed as "Blazing Trails" by the Aboriginal Business Quarterly and wrote two interviews that were published by the national Aboriginal newspaper Windspeaker. In the past five years her writing has been published by Spirit Magazine Toronto, Third Space University of Victoria, Lac Du Flambeau Tribal News and was featured by SAY Magazine, Native Threads and Native Wear in the USA.
In the summer of 2004, Crystal aka DJ Kwe (pronounced DJ Kway) was selected to represent the Nation of Canada in a battle of DJs from Canada, the USA, and the UK. She captured the WIN and was featured in local newspapers and radio. Kwe has compiled, mixed and released 18 non-stop CD mixes, showcasing her nine years as a professional DJ and the vast knowledge she has absorbed during a decade of diligently following the music industry. Kwe was featured on Canada's national Music television Station, Much Music, in celebration of National Aboriginal Day. She interviewed as one of the few female Aboriginal DJs in Canada. Her visionary musical ways are leading to a brand new genre that fuses traditional singing, drumming, electronic sounds and instruments. In 2006, she released her first CD of Aboriginal House Music/Original Production called "The Electronic Drum" to the world promoting her producing, writing and voicing skills. She is now going mainstream with her musical message of hope and harmony as she DJ's for youth conferences, corporate events and award galas like the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards 2007.
One of her top notable performances was for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games where she showcased her music composition, sound design and DJ skills for Dorothy Grant, Pam Baker and Four Host First Nations. Her effort was ground breaking as many leaders in the native community acknowledged her vision as inspirational. Throughout her multimedia career she has also ventured in music production and became the voice talent for producers in Romania, Portugal, Brazil, Paris, USA and Canada as she voices her teachings to share with the world. Her soothing and confident voice has also been featured by the BC Student Leadership Conference, Aboriginal Voices Radio, Global 1fm, EWTV and Scarlett FM in the UK.
The fusion between technology and traditional treasures has fueled a leading edge multimedia career for Crystal that has impacted the hearts and minds of thousands of people leaving them asking for more. Through her own healing, she uses her compelling story to do motivational speaking and storytelling in order to reach different audiences of various races and ages.
