That's really refreshing to hear. Michael was a very unique person and the media took advantage of his special qualities, highlighting them as negative rather than positive. MJ was just extremely misunderstood, and yet he's so very accessible and easy to understand if you just give him a chance. He wore his heart on his sleeve. I suppose some people aren't prepared for that kind of raw emotion and honesty.

You're definitely oversimplifying it. I believe EDs do involve vanity, but it's often bred from feelings of self-loathing, at least that's the case with myself. When everything in your life is going wrong, changing your body is at least one way to manage some happiness. Depression, perfectionism and anxiety are all triggering emotions for an ED. For instance, it's obvious Shelley places no value in herself, especially compared to her twin. She must find a way to validate herself beyond the ED.
