About this user

I am a self-proclaimed geek and political wonk who uploads news vlogs from a progressive/leftist/social democratic/socialist point of view, footage of protests I attend, commentaries on various YouTube videos, and the occasional random video. I don't make it a priority to become "internet famous" and have a loyal fanbase or something, but it would be nice if people shared my work and raised awareness of issues that affect our world today. In the grand scheme of things, isn't extremely important, nor is it nearly as important as success in real life.

Politically, I would consider myself a socialist, but more on the libertarian side. I believe that government can often be just as tyrannical as corporate rule, and both need to be kept in check. I don't want corporations running the media, nor do I want the government to run the media. Capitalism, I would say, is the best and worst economic system ever thought up because it promotes innovation, but that innovation is greatly outbalanced by the horrors it has unleashed onto the world, and the market system as of now, the corporate system we have in which big business, not the people themselves own the means of production, invariably favors those who can exploit it, i.e., the wealthy. It's made a lot of people really rich but many others are left starving and destitute.

I am an atheist and I give my allegiance to science, which unlike faith, can be proven. I am also a radical feminist, and a straight ally for LGBTQ rights. My favorite philosophers, political scientists, and economists would probably be Aristotle, Hobbes, Kant, Marx, Keynes, Fukuyama, Chomsky, and Krugman.

I am also quite passionate about video games, though I'm not very good at them. I only started playing in my mid-teens, and I'm mostly an "armchair gamer" as I would call myself.

I like retro and retro-style games (especially Mario, old-school Sonic, Megaman, Contra, and Sparkster) but I'm not very good at them because I don't play video games very often, and I only got into gaming several years ago.

However, I'm still willing to try games out that may be completely different. I may not like the aesthetic of "gray brown shooters," but I'll still give them a chance. I just like colorful simplistic fantastical games more.

I generally don't like anime, though I have my faves (FLCL, Gurren Lagann, Paranoia Agent, Trigun, etc.) and I'm a huge fan of Miyazaki's films, and Satoshi Kon's Paprika.

I do spend some time on 4chan, mostly on /co/ but I'm not really a /co/mrade, and Encyclopedia Dramatica but I'm not an Anon (which should be obvious from the fact that I use my real voice in my videos) However, I do support the faction of Anonymous that fights for civil liberties, freedom of information, and democracy.
