On our server "Rakata Mind Prison" we suffer from a pretty big unbalance in faction size, probably close to a 3-1 imperial to republic ratio. However, this server is a pre-order server, so honestly we have little to blame for this occurrence but the actual player base itself. Regardless, this makes Illum and other PVP mechanisms of the game aggravating at times to complete. For example if you are part of the Empire, Hutt ball is the only Warzone you will generally compete in, with an occasional Void Star or Alderan, and you will be taking on a team comprised of entirely Imperial players.
However, PVP is player versus player and many of us have always been able to successfully complete our daily PVP quest without exploiting. Unfortunately it would appear that many others have decided that a PVP daily is getting a large group together and trading kills with the opposing faction. Trading kills is when two groups agree to take turns grouping up and allowing the opposing faction to AOE them down. This affords for a quick turn around on daily, and weekly quest, and of course massive amounts of valor which enable those involved access to higher level PVP gear.
Many will say to each their own, and in may situations I agree, however in the case of valor trading I strongly disagree. Beyond exploiting a mechanic designed to encourage PVP combat, those involved create an unfair advantage for themselves in the upcoming Rated PVP season. Furthermore, as my video demonstrates when these groups come together to trade swap, those genuinely wanting to participate in world PVP are unable to do so. They attack the opposing faction, only to have their own faction not come to aid, and worse their own faction to tell the opposing faction to kill us, as we are not part of the "Trading Ops".
I recorded this type of behavior go on for hours today in Illum, things became so bad that those trading would actually mount up together and ride to a new cave or other secret location after being discovered, our guild refers to it as the Christmas Caravan.
The worst part to this entire situation is that so many will come together to trade, but not actually PVP in Illum. When I first heard about valor trading, I assumed 2-3 individuals from each side where secretly participating. To discover and record today, large groups participating, makes feel that the developers did not fail to create a world PVP atmosphere, merely that the player base would prefer to trade then actually participate in PVP.
I ask if you don't actually like PVP why do PVP daily's, and chase valor ranks? Finally I was shocked at the individuals I discovered participating. The highest valor ranking person on our server, wrote in my video they were unaware that they weren't suppose to kill the opposing faction, and asked eagerly for an invite back to the OPS to participate in the trading. Perhaps one of the most notable players on the opposing factions team was also in attendance for this valor trading session.
SWTOR needs to initiate temporary or permanent bans for those caught exploiting this, or at the least remove all their valor. If such actions do not occur, then how can anyone view any PVP in SWTOR rated or nonrated as legitimate?
