I am a British American living abroad doing research on my free time concerning my Grandfathers Regiment in WW II.
As of recent I have been searching for footage taken by Samuel Fuller the famed film director and former infantry Soldier with I company 16th regiment 1st Infantry Divison who was under my Grandfathers command during the latter part of the war. During this search I have come across many many people who refute the existance of Natzi ( A term the british media came up with) war Crimes and that the German regime didn't set out to exterminate the jew's (among others) I am absolutly astonished that people are so Ignorant to even persue this Kind of thinking.
I feel I have to do something about it. I have during my life been under the tutilage of many a War veteran many who were the first into Camps like Dachau and Buchenwald (99th I.D.)and not to mention My Grandfathers Experience with the Camps around Chub "Falkinau". He as an acting Executive Officer 180 or so men (most accounts matain an average of about 180 men per usual 200+ man unit I now this because I have read the s-3 regimental report.) was put in Carge of the women's camp at the German aviation plant where there were over 2000 polish female workers (women workers are great mechanics because of their small hands) hence why so many were deported and made slave workers and put into forced labor, there were hundreds of places like this if not thousands.
During this time in check/slovak / sudatent my Grandfather's duties was to take care of these women and provide them with food water medical treatment and because the supplies were streached so thin much of this material had to be aquired from local sources. My Grandfather then 1st LT Anthony J Prahl of German and Itilian decent went to the Mayors office and approached him with " We need food water medicine to treat the prisoners in the work Camp" the Mayor with his cool demenor replied " for them we have nothing for them" My Grandfather being of NYC wit said "oh well, I guess I have to let them all out!" the mayor recanted food and water was dilvered immidatly. So anyone who says that the German regime and people didn't set out to do these people harm is very very ignorant! This is just one of many many stories and experiences that Veterans (German and American alike.)I know have Shared with me. I live in Sweden but am of British American decent and of German Jewish heritage. I do not practice judaism but am Christian. I am shocked that even a somone who claims to be an American,and or Christian could support this racist narrow minded view, Jesus was a Jew of the chosen people, according to the Bibel, so in the name of God and what is Right accept Evil where it is deserved And I say this in the name of all that is Good and Humane and right!
May the soul's of all MY Grandfather's men who GAVE their lives for us to be FREE and in the name of Freedom and Democracy and to all who died in that war and all wars,May you have eternal rest and peace.
Hopefully with the will of goodnes and humanity, that we learn to be a Healthy Giving one world Family as to not destroy this Earth each other and all that we love and Cherish!
