Hi I'm Courtney Janssen singer/songwriter
About Me:
The Best part of singing for me is knowing that all of you enjoy my performances.
My goal is to write and record original songs, to go touring and become a successful pop/rock artist. I know it will take alot of hard work, determination and persistence but I know I can do it, its my dream and I will make it happen.
I've loved music ever since I can remember, its always been the way I like to express myself. When I was younger I used to jump on the coffee table and get mum, dad and anyone else around to sit and listen to me sing. My mum and I sung and danced every Friday night to Cher and Shakira, I am very lucky to have such supportive parents who have helped me all the way.
When I was 9 years old I made a decision to follow my passion, from that day on I sang anywhere there was an audience to polite too "say no I couldn't sing". I have sung in many cafes and restaurants, I would ask the Manager, never taking no for an answer. Once when I was 11 years old a Manager did say no so I told him it was my mums birthday and I had to sing to her, sing I did and later they brought her out a pudding with a candle and everybody in the restaurant sang her Happy Birthday.
Career highlights to date include: Stars in their eyes 2009, Good Morning Show 2008 and 2010, NBL Finals (National Anthem on TV3) I hosted the Erin Simpson Show for a day and performing in front of a 10,000 enthusiastic crowd was amazing and fun. In 2008 I was voted Franklin Junior Achiever of the Year.
I play the guitar and I write my own songs and act and dance. I recently went to a 2 day songwriting course presented by Jason Blume, this is the second year in a row I have been to his seminar, he is very inspirational. I have just finished a new song Bye Bye Baby, I am writing alot of new songs and my goal is to produce my own album in the near future.
I live in New Zealand, my father was born in Holland but has lived in NZ since
he was 2 years old.

Influences:
Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Pink and the list goes on! But these are some of my biggest influences because they all have great songs with interesting lyrics and catchy melodies. They are also current and work really hard to stay at the top of their game. I love their songs and they are a huge influence to how I try write my own songs. (:
