Our neighborhood hosted the first annual Rancho Cordova Softball Tournament. Four teams throughout the city competed for a trophy and an Anatolia team walked away as the champions. It was fun to build relationship with people and have a reason to see several neighborhoods come together. This event was held at White Rock Community Park and sponsored by the Rancho Cordova Post (www.ranchocordovapost.com). Thank you to all who made this event a success.

Project 680 is a group of local residents in Rancho Cordova who are finding simple and relevant ways to support local homeless youth. Project 680 is supported by the Cordova Towne Neighborhood Association, local residents and busiensses, local churches, and a local homeless outreach - Socks & Gloves. An unnamed resident sent us this video and we liked it that local graffiti is being taken care of at a grassroots level. Graffiti does not help a neighborhood grow in a positive direction, not to mention improve property values. Graffiti does not promote more "hope and change" either, which is something to consider. And to anyone who is writing on our signs, sidewalks, walls, or anywhere else, stop it!!! We want our area to continually improve and your petty actions are disrespectful to so many residents. You may not view it that way, but you are being very selfish. Work for your community rather than against it.

KOVR (Channel 13) in Sacramento ran a story on Project 680 on 12-14-08 on the 10pm news segment. They came out to the neighborhood and filmed today. Thank you to a handful of residents who came out for this piece. The quality of this video is not great since it was filmed with a handheld camera pointed at the TV screen, but when we get a better quality video we will definitely upload it. This is a video of residents counting socks for Project 680 in Rancho Cordova. This was a community-wide effort to collect 680 pairs of socks for local "homeless" teens in Rancho Cordova & Folsom. These are kids that the District works with already who are living in unstable environments like motels, cars, RVs, in a household without a parent/guardian, etc... This effort started out with a few neighbors and then grew to include many residents with city limits (and beyond), 12 drop-off locations, and 13 local businesses. Thank you everyone for your support and most of all for advocating for local students. This economy may not be an easy one on us, but we sure can make a difference in simple ways. It does not take riches and stacks of money to be generous - just a willing heart.

We had a community meeting on September 16, 2008 for residents on Swansea, Blackpool, & Blackburn (and anyone else who wanted to attend). Three officers attended the meeting and in the video our two POP officers gave some tips to residents on crime prevention.

Rancho Cordova Council Member Ken Cooley sponsored a free pancake breakfast for the neighborhood. In addition to paying for all of the pancakes and OJ, he invited a plethora of other local candidates in order to help residents be able to connect with local candidates. All in all, we had a dozen or more candidates come to the neighborhood to eat breakfast and have conversation.

The City of Rancho Cordova hired Peppers TV to film a series of PSA commercials for local television and local cable. We were asked to be a part of this PSA process and so we got a group of residents together one evening for the shoot. A group of 15-20 of us made the cut in this video. We go buy very quickly, but we say, "We are Cordova Towne".

This commercial aired on local television and served as a PSA for Rancho Cordova. Peppers TV filmed the video and the woman who says "I love Rancho" in Spanish is from our neighborhood.
