Hi! My name's Copper,and I'm a hound dog! I live in Tennessee with my old man Chief. Amos Slade (The master) brought me home to raise me as a huntin' dog. While I was a little runt, I met Tod, a red fox, my very best friend.
After a few months, I came to realize I'm nowhere near as talanted as my best friend. But Tod cheered me up and talked me into going to the county fair with him, so we went.
After we got to the fair, I heard the most beautiful sound I'd ever heard. Singing. That was the first time I saw Cash, Dixie, Waylon, Floyd and Granny Rose. The Singin' Strays. We went into the tent to watch the show, and I couldn't help howlin' along. Cash picked me up and set me on the stage, where I got to sing for a live audience. Afterwards, Me and Tod went on the merry-go-round, that's where Cash asked me if I wanted to join the band. Naturally, I said yes. Over the next few days, I got to hang around Cash, where he taught me about being a star. I forgot about Tod a bit during that, but I didn't mean to! Tod got a little upset, and talked with Dixie, where she told him how to break me apart from the band. Tod got Chief to chase him to the fair, which made Amos follow. Amos came to take me home, and the band broke up.
The next morning, Dixie told me it was her fault for breakin' me up with the band, not Tod's. So, I thought I should apologize for a few things, and Tod did the same. Tod plotted up a scheme to get the band back together, so I followed. I tracked down the talant scout, and he ran and told Cash n' Dixie that each other were in trouble. I howled to let Tod know where he was, and he brought the band to there. Which united us to where the talant scout was. The Singin' Strays sang out their problems, and the talant scout over heard. He took them aside, to go to the Grand Ole' Oprey,....But, I had a fox to catch up with. ;3 So, I let them go on without me and caught up with Tod.
After a few months, The master took me and Chief on a huntin' trip from fall until spring. In the meantime, Chief taught me how to be a great huntin' dog. When I came back, As much as I missed Tod, I thought it'd be for the best that we weren't friends anymore, on the count of old Chief and me being huntin' dogs. I met up with Tod the night we got back and old Chief found us out. The master woke up, and we went after Tod. I found Tod before Chief (His sniffer's gettin' a little old) but......I couldn't bring myself to get him. So I said I'd let him go that "One time".....Though I had no intentions of ever bringing myself to kill him.
Chief found Tod though, and chased him up to the railroad.....Just as a train came. Tod ducked in time, but Chief, scared stiff, got hit by the train...in my anger I blamed Tod, though he had nothing to do with it.
We traced Tod down to the "No hunting grounds" eventually, where I found him and went after him, and Vixey. (Tod's friend) We chased 'em up to the top of the waterfall, where, to my surprise found no Tod, but a HUGE bear. Amos had no idea of the wear abouts of the bear, and tried to take a shot at 'em. The bear knocked him down the mountain and Amos got his foot stuck in the bear trap. Being protective, I stood up to the bear, but couldn't quite take him on......After everything, Tod came back to save me. I'll never know why. After his feud with the bear, they finally landed on a log just above the waterfall, Which couldn't support the bear's weight and they fell. At the bottom of the waterfall, I found Tod, still alive....but, Amos got to the waterfall ready to shoot him. Realizing Tod just saved my life, I stood up for Tod. Luckily, Amos didn't shoot. And we went back home.
Tod'll always be my friend.
