I used to make these things until I realized that dryer lint is a great starter on its own. Now I just save it from each dryer use and throw a handful into the wood stove under some kindling. Use a hair dryer for air and bingo! fire starts. We heat our entire home with two wood stoves.

Informative video. But if you just leave the plates out don't you have to be concerned about flies laying eggs on the leaves. I prefer drying under 94 degree heat for a few hours. Just a thought. Nice video.

I too had a Rue NY on March 18th and learning the 'ropes' like yourself. It has taken until last week (10th week) for me to start finally noticing the weight loss, so hang in there.
