Constanze Weber was born in 1762 in Zell am Wiesental, she was the cousin of Carl Maria von Weber but her most illustrious musical connection is that, on 4th August 1782, she married Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, arguably the greatest ever composer. Together they had six children only two of whom survivied infancy. She was a fine singer in her own right and was one of the sopranos who premiered Mozart's Great Mass in C minor [K.427]. The background picture was painted by her brother-in-law, Joseph Lange. She died in 1842.
