Proposed ammendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the Twenty-second Article of Ammendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President...leave our Constitution alone! You traitor! We don't want dictatorship here in the U.S., thank you very much!

Representative Jose Serrano last night (11/05/07) gave a speech on House Resolution 435, which calls on the U.S. Government to combat the influence that Iran and Hezbollah exercises in Latin America. His speech questioned the wisdom of such a resolution and condemned the many false assumptions about Latin American under which it was recently passed. Serrano also offered a short history of U.S./Latin American foreign policy which has culminated in the recent left-of-center elections throughout Latin America. HR435 is a dangerous resolution because it provides yet another justification for a possible military confrontation with Iran, and it does so under false pretenses inflamed by misguided passions and not by the facts. Everyone with an interest in Latin American foreign policy, or an interest in simply waging peace, ought to hear or read Serrano's wonderful speech.
