Dan Burton is currently serving his fourteenth term as a United States Representative from Indiana's Fifth Congressional District. His first term in Congress began in January of 1983. The Fifth District lies in the heart of central Indiana and includes all of Tipton, Grant, Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Hamilton, and Hancock Counties, as well as parts of Marion, Shelby, Howard and Johnson Counties.

When Congressman Burton assumed the Chairmanship of the House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform in the 105th Congress, he became the first Hoosier Republican to Chair a full House Committee in more than sixty years. The last was Congressman William Robert Wood, who chaired the Committee on Appropriations during the 71st Congress (1929-1931). Congressman Burton currently serves as Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia. Also, he is a Senior Member on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Dan Burton was born on June 21, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Shortridge High School in 1957, and attended Indiana University and the Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Congressman Burton received the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humanities from Capitol University of Integrative Medicine on December 17, 2000. As a proud veteran of our Armed Forces, Dan served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves (1957-1962). Before his election to Congress, Mr. Burton held office in the Indiana State Senate (1969-70 and 1981-82), as well as in the Indiana House of Representatives (1967-68 and 1977-80). The Burton family resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The reason Grayson's statement upset the Republicans so much is because he was right. The Republicans are and always will be against health reform.

Mr. Burton rather than voting on HR 1207 as a standalone bill, many in Congress hope to roll it into the comprehensive regulatory reform package recently proposed by the White House.
This reform package grants new, more comprehensive powers to the Fed and strengthens the government's control over our economy. C4L and other friends of liberty stand in opposition to this proposal, as well as any other attempt to convert this historic movement for transparency into yet another rubber-stamping of politics as usual.
It is imperative that Audit the Fed come before the House and Senate on its own merits."
Three-fourths of Americans now support this audit as it stands, and we must demand that it is passed unadulterated.
If your Representative has co-sponsored HR 1207, demand that they pass the bill on it's own merits in it's current form.

You're pointing at this chart of the Democrats' plan and you're going on and on about how all the white icons are all "new government agencies", so I caught a glimpse of the chart on your site and the white icons have names like "medicaid", "medicare", and "S-chip". Don't know what you call that in Indiana. In New York we call it "lying".

There is alot of talk about a private Organzation that is Privately Owned. Alen Greenspan was quoted as to this. Our Founding Father's tried to escape this type of Tyreanny (sp) It was the bank we were tring to escape and the King how he allowed it. Why wasn't any of the bail-out money set aside for our Soldiers, Sailors & Airman who need it ?
Why is PDD-25 being kept a secret? It has been over ten years since it was instigated so is should be public by now.

Thank you for trying to warn us of the upcoming inflation. Brazil had a simliar problem in the past. Maybe we could learn from them.
