Conch blower Tommy Adolfsson is the only professional musician on conch shells in Sweden. 1984 he heard the music of conch shells in the temple of Mahabalipuram, India during a tour with the Swedish group "Bitter Funeral Beer Band" playing at the Jazz Yatra Festival in Bombay and Delhi.
He was born 1953 in Ljusdal, a small village in the north of Sweden. Tommy started as a young boy to practise the trumpet. Followed by experiments on hose-pipe, vacumcleaner-tubes and all kind of things you could blow on. Now he plays conch shells, trumpet, electric trumpet with electronic effects, water trumpet, nordic overtone flute, wooden cornet, Swedish woodhorn, Tibetan horn, hosepipe, water, glass and schamandrum.
