It would be good to know the date of this broadcast... I know that he and Dorothy loved each other very much (sexually or not, it hardly matters) but was this the first time they met? Forgive my ignorance but I'm British and I think I'm right in saying that Dorothy was hardly known over here.

I am 6'2'', slim, with a look (some say) of Tom Conti or Louis Theroux about me. Others (less kindly perhaps) say that I look like Groucho Marx without the moustache.I am a pianist & composer and writer. I play anything from light jazz to classical but much prefer the latter. For a small fee I will play Abba and Meatloaf. For a huge fee I will play Lloyd Webber but the sums of money involved here are prohibitive. I can happily serenade you with Nina Simone and Rachmaninov but not necessarily at the same time.
I am largely domesticated (I even leave the loo seat down) but my cooking is eratic; my fish pie has been widely praised. My cheese cake has been widely binned. Believe it or not - and I swear this is true - I once lost a boiled egg. It vanished from the pan. Jonothan Creek was completely baffled.
I love to give, receive and witness small acts of kindness, given freely with no ulterior motive or expectation of reward. In the end, it's only love and kindness that really matter.
In a former life (if I've had one) I was probably a pirate but a benevolent one. The sort who would give his men paternity leave and let them have the ship's rowing boat at weekends. In another I suspect I was a vampire but a terribly polite one. Deadly but inoffensive.
I'm passionate about Tchaikovsky and Russian music and literature in general. Tchaikovsky breaks my heart, Beethoven makes it soar. Andrew Lloyd Webber makes me bleed internally. If I had Margaret Thatcher and Lloyd Webber in front of me and I had a gun with only one bullet, I'd have to think long and hard.
Music is my passion but then I'm passionate about fairness, justice and equality too. I dislike snobbery and pomposity with an intensity it's hard to convey.
Also love humour - from the Marx Brothers to Monthy Python. Currently I try hard not to miss QI and I'm a huge fan of 'The West Wing'.
a favourite quote of mine...
If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a coin that has rolled under the radiator.
@alinvan Yes, I have vague memories of that too here in the UK... Barbera Kelly was a regular, as was the magician David Nixon, Lady Isabelle Barnet, Cyril Fletcher, Nanette Newman et al. For many years, of course, it was hosted over here by Eamon Andrews. Hope that brings back a few memories ...
