Communist Students exists to promote Marxism on our campuses, campaign for democracy in all spheres of life, and fight to replace capitalism with communism. Not the 'communism' of Stalin's Soviet Union, but a free and democratic world society. CS was established in 2006 by members and supporters of the Communist Party of Great Britain and we maintain links with the CPGB, but we are an autonomous organisation.

Members of CS must accept our platform but will not be silenced or expelled if they disagree with the majority line (as can happen in some supposedly marxist groups). Members are free to form factions within the organisation. Open debate and democracy are needed if we want our movement to progress. We engage other left student groups with the aim of unity on the basis of radical, democratic marxism, and also bring the communist message directly onto campus.
