About this user

Comfort is a Writer, Spoken Word Artist and Event Organiser from London.

Upon discovering her love of words at a very young age, and subsequently studying Journalism and Media Studies, Comfort often found herself playing with words to create erotica and very short stories as a pastime to entertain herself during the mundane routine of her 9-5. Her transition from written stories to the spoken word was initially sparked by her outrage and frustration at the alarming rise of violent crime amongst young people within the UK, coupled with the general mis-education of children and young people within her community, leading her to embark upon her poetry journey in July 2007.

Winner of the August 2009 Word4Word Poetry Slam, Comfort has had the pleasure of performing at an array of events including Poetry n Motion, Laughterfest, Rum Punch, Lets Talk, Apples & Snakes, Shangwe, Poetry in the Park, AdLib, The Poets Lounge, Tell Tales, Farrago, Poetry Unplugged and SOULcial to name only a few, and was invited to feature at the prestigious ACLT 9th Gift of Life Ball, as well as opening for ME1 and US artist Marva King (of Prince & The New Power Generation) for Kindred Spirits Building a healthy following on the London Performance Poetry/Spoken Word circuit during the past 3 years, Comfort, the unabashed Spoken Word Artist, isn't afraid to speak her mind. Aptly dubbed 'Art without Apology', Comfort offers thought provoking, but entertaining lyricism, peppered with her no nonsense take on modern life and relationships.

The expressive and engaging Writer of both erotic and general fiction, made her transition from written to spoken word in 2007 when she hit the live performance scene with a zest that has seen her perform at some of London's most elite events and win the Word4Word Summer Slam in 2009. Comfort, has impressively had three of her poems published; the first, her signature piece 'Unsatisfied', by men's lifestyle magazine Juice in 2008, the controversial 'WasteMan', (co-written by Dubb'l yoo T), in the same magazines following edition, and more recently, 'Mini Me' by Ninety-Nine, 'the UK's Number 1 magazine for Black Achievers'.

Comfort was recently included in the Black 100+ Exhibition, for being nominated as "an inspirational figure in the world of poetry". Her portrait photograph has been included as a permanent stamp in history, alongside her words of encouragement for future generations, in the 2010 'Legacy Register'.

Not satisfied with simply writing and performing, Comfort is also Co-Founder of Poetry Organisation Partnas in Rhyme (PiR), who host regular poetry events (Rum Punch and Poetry in the Park), as well as Director and Founder of ONiT! PR, a company dedicated to raising the profile of Poetry/Spoken Word in the UK.
