WW1 was truly the worst war of all time, its because of this that WW2 started with no illusions, no thought that it might be over quickly because people had learnt from WW1 how unlikely that was.

It was after this war that generals modifies battle so as to lose as little life as possible. Of course sometimes that didn't work out eg Stalingrad when Russian soldiers often unarmed were pit against the Wehrmacht but on the whole warfare became that less bit costly

Yes its interesting despite most of their policies being wrong eg Racialisation the Nazi's policies on alchohol, smoking and drugs were very astute. The Nazi's made some particularly effective anti smoking adverts and so there public health regime does deserve credit.
