A short brief on what CoIntelPro is.

The Counter Intelligence Program began 1956 and was designed to "increase factionalism, cause disruption and win defections" inside the Communist Party U.S.A.

CoIntelPro was a series of covert operations, and often illegal, the projects were conducted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, discrediting, and disrupting domestic political organizations.

However the program was kept a secret until it was exposed by a group calling themselves "Citizens' Commission to Investigate the FBI".
