Exercise Player Can Do: Set up a start cone and then put 3 cones in the shape of a V ahead of the start cone but angled to the side. Place a finish cone about 7 yards away in the spot of where you will run from the first V. Do 5 in a row, rest and then repeat.

more
When learning how 2 play soccer it is good for players to learn how to head a soccer ball. The soccer header, soccer heading or heading the ball is how some people refer to it. However you want to describe heading the ball in soccer, today we are learning how to head a soccer ball with power and the basics of heading the ball.
Description: There are many different styles, ways and reasons for heading a soccer ball. In this Online Soccer Academy soccer training video we are just going to learn the basics of heading and how to generate power. This video is geared for beginner players and their coaches but it of course can be applied to players of all abilities.
Key Points: 1. Hit ball on your Forehead 2. Keep your eyes open as long as you can. Yes, you want to keep your eyes open the whole time but if you see pros in action pics heading a ball their eyes are generally closed. They don't do it on purpose, it's a natural reaction. So keep yours open as long as you can. 3. Generate power by leaning back. Think about passing. Do you push the ball forward or do you bring your leg back and then kick it? You bring your leg back. Same with heading, you need to lean back, activate your core, then come forward. 4. Hit the ball when your head is in line with your body. What I mean is don't head it when you are leaning to far forward, or when you are to far back. Head it right when your head is in a normal upright position.
Equipment Needed: Ball and Partner
Soccer Exercise Player Can Do: Start off from the standing position. No jumping. Lean back, partner tosses the ball with two hands, underhand service and you come through and head it straight back. Repeat 10 times. Do exercise
Once comfortable head from the jump. As you jump make sure you are leaning back then come through the ball just like you did on headers from the stand still. Head the ball at your highest point, that is where your most power is in the jump. So jump up, meet the ball at your highest point and head it back. Do 10 headers, rest. Repeat until tired. Do exercise
When jumping don't jump with our arms out like a bird. Jump with your arms coming up with you, giving you a little bit extra and then use them to help with the header motion.
What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: If you are not getting enough power from your header you could be jumping into the ball. Don't let it hit you and then you jump to give it power. You attack it.
If power is still an issue for you, then you are not leaning back enough and your timing is off. Don't stand straight up and push your head forward, remember you have to lean back, then come forward with power.

more
The Elastico soccer move is a soccer trick sometimes called a ronaldinho elastico or a soccer snake. Others refer to it as a flip flap.
Description: The Elastico soccer move is a fancy soccer trick to fake out a defender. Before you attempt the Elastico make sure you can do the Inside to Outside Advanced move multiple times in a row. For tips on how to do that watch my Online Soccer Academy soccer training video called "Soccer Tips -- Inside to Outside Move".
Key Points: 1. Little touch on the inside backside of the ball with outside part of your foot by your toes 2. Quickly move the inside part of your foot to the outside middle part of the ball and push ball the opposite way away from where the defender is moving 3. Drop your shoulder to add to the fake 4. Change pace
Equipment Needed: Soccer Ball and a cone
Soccer Exercise Player Can Do: Start off practicing this move from a standing position. Take little touches and focus on getting the feel for the Elastico. Once comfortable practice from a stand still taking a bigger first touch to really fake the defender.
Once comfortable doing the Elastico from a standing position set up a cone to be your imaginary defender. Then dribble at the defender, do the Elastico and change pace. Repeat until you are comfortable or tired. The Elastico is an attacking move usually done at a slower pace so don't go to fast.
What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: If you are not able to get your foot around the ball in time to push it back inside it is because your touch is to big and your foot position on the ball is on the forward part of the ball. Make sure your foot is on the back part of the ball so you can quickly get it to the other side.
Make sure you don't take too big of a touch on the outside touch, it's more of a small push then a kick, so don't kick it.

more
How to do a Rainbow in soccer in this week's Online Soccer Academy soccer training video. The Soccer Rainbow is a classic soccer trick to do when showing off for your friends and to excite the fans and escape a defender in a soccer game!
Key Points: 1. Dominant Foot pointed in direction you want to go / Non Dominant Foot Perpendicular to it 2. Squeeze soccer ball tightly between your feet 3. Roll soccer ball up dominant leg and start to lean forward 4. Pop soccer ball with heel of your foot
What Soccer Player Could Be Doing Wrong: If the soccer ball is just going up in the air but not over your head you may not be leaning forward when you do it. You may just be standing straight up. The lean is important because it tells your body where you need the ball to go.
If the soccer ball is going away from you and not up or over your head you are not rolling the ball up high enough on your dominant foot. Don't rush this move. Be patient, roll the ball up high and then do the heel popping motion.

How do you get faster? One way to get faster is to learn how to increase your soccer speed in this week's Online Soccer Academy soccer training video. This soccer video will teach you ways to get faster and how to run fast!
Description: These workouts to increase speed will help you increase running speed. Basically these exercises are sprinting training to increase your soccer speed and will show you how to run fast.
Equipment Needed: Two Cones
Exercise Player Can Do: Set up a start cone and end cone about 10 -- 15 yards apart. We will now do 5 speed exercises to work on our proper running technique.
1st Exercise -- Heel Over Knee Walking -- 2 Sets Hands on your hips, drive your knee up and down, walk down to end cone and light jog back. Point your toe up when driving your knee up, come down on ball of your foot, do not let your heel touch the ground.
When jogging back make sure you are jogging on your toes, not flat footed. A coach needs to look at you and think, that player's got good technique.
2nd Exercise -- Heel Over Knee Skipping -- 2 Sets Hands on your hips, drive your knee up and down with a little skip in between. The faster our knee goes up and down the faster we will go. Make sure your knee is past your waistline.
3rd Exercise -- Heel Over Knee Fast Knees -- 2 Sets Hands on your hips, drive your knee up and down as fast as you can.
4th Exercise -- Heel Over Knee Walking with Arm Technique -- 3 Sets
Does it matter what are arms are doing when we are running? Yes, it does matter! You shouldn't be swimming on the field and you shouldn't be looking like you are carrying luggage!
You want your arms cocked at a 90 degree angle. Drive your elbows back and forward, do not straighten your arm on the way back. Do not have your arm motion going sideways, you want it going forward and back. Last point your hand should be going through your hip. So not up high by your chest, but through your hip.
The faster your arms go, the faster your legs will go!
To practice, sit down with your legs out in front, sit up tall, arms cocked to the side and start practicing your arm technique slowly. Then go fast. Rest and repeat a few times. You are sitting down because if you straighten your arm out, which you are not supposed to do, you will hit the ground.
Now lets bring it all together for the exercise. Heel over knee walking using arm technique. Right arm, left leg. Left arm, right leg. This sometimes gets confusing for players so don't get discouraged if you mess up a few times.
5th Exercise -- Running Strides -- 3-5 Sets Now that we have our running technique down lets bring it all together. Do a few running strides, not sprints, at 80 percent across your field working on running technique. (do key points, then do strides for camera)
Key Points: Run on your Toes, not heels Drive your Knees Up, don't just move your feet fast Use Proper Arm Technique
What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: Make sure you are driving your knees up when running. I see a lot of players moving their feet fast but their not going that fast because their knees aren't coming up. Drive your knees up; your thigh/hamstring holds the power, not your feet!
Bonus Tip: These speed exercises are good to do as part of your warm up when practicing in your backyard. Practice them often because being fast in soccer isn't everything, but it sure helps!
