In relation to my views on the IRA:
Although i am an ardent irish patriot and want nothing more than the complete reunification of Ireland The new IRA are Traitors to Ireland and to the people of Ireland. For those of you who do not know the new IRA and the Republic of Ireland's Defence Forces share the same origins, this being The Irish Volunteers formed in 1913. They were formed in response the formation of the terrorist organisation the Ulster Volunteers. Its declared primary aim was "to secure and maintain the rights and liberties common to the whole people of Ireland". The Volunteers included members of the Gaelic League, Ancient Order of Hibernians and Sinn Féin, and, secretly, the IRB. The Volunteers fought for Irish independence in 1916's Easter Rising, and were joined by the Irish Citizen Army, Cumann na mBan and Fianna Éireann to form the Irish Republican Army. The Original IRA fought and won the Irish war of independence against the forces of the British Empire. After the Treaty between
Dáil Éireann and westminister and the formation of the Free State the IRA split between the Free state army and the "new" IRA . After a vote was put to the Irish people the people of Ireland voted for peace and the formation of the Free state. De Valera ignored this and abandoned the irish people Thus sparked the Irish civil war after a short but bloody war which caused more casualties than the war that it preceded the Free State Army claimed victory. The New IRA was defeated. The New IRA although fighting for a noble cause there method of doing so was unjust and wrong the Irish people voted for peace and peace they should have had. Instead the IRA fought a long and blood conflict in Northern Ireland called The Troubles.

Edward Daly

Edward "Ned" Daly (25 February 1891 -- 4 May 1916) was commandant of Dublin's 1st battalion during the Easter Rising of 1916. He was the youngest man to hold that rank, and one of the youngest executed in the aftermath.
Limerick-born Daly was the younger brother of Kathleen Clarke, wife of Tom Clarke, and an active member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood. His uncle was John Daly, a prominent republican who had taken part in the Irish Rebellion of 1867.
Daly's battalion, stationed in the Four Courts and areas to the west and north of Dublin center, saw the most intense fighting of the rising. He surrendered his battalion on 29 April. In his trial, he claimed that he was just following orders, but was executed by firing squad on 4 May 1916, at the age of 25.
The men in his battalion spoke of him as a good commandant. This opinion was also shared by a British officer that Daly's battalion had captured.
