About this user
I study/teach North Tsai Li Foh & South Hung Ga Shaolin Kung Fu and utilize the Jeet Kuen Do Philosophy. I believe in traditional arts but I also believe that they need to be focused on pliability and simplicity. Its not the length its the depth that is the core of my personal philosophy. So I don't know 100 forms, I know four South Shaolin cause they were the ones taught to me. I also know several Tsai Li Foh forms. I also decided after careful thought to learn some ground skills namely Brazilian Juijitsu I figured it can't hurt and I love CMA, but I consider myself a CMMA (Classical Mixed Martial Artist). Eventually I will add some specifics of what I learned from all Four arts I study, the third is more of a Philosophy anyway.
Do I learn to fight? No, I learn Self Defense there is a Difference.
Do I enjoy Fighting? No, Mostly because I am Buddhist/Christian and as such I do not believe violence solves anything, but I do enjoy challenging Myself. I do not mind being asked to spar, but should you challenge me to a gong-sau "Skilled Hands Match" I will refuse not out of fear but out of the fact I have nothing to prove .Should you beat me good on you. All it says to me is I need more work. I never stop to think "Man I'm excellent at Kung Fu" I merely think I need more work all the time.
Why Do I learn? For many reasons. Self Defense being one of them. The others are mind expansion and Self awareness.
