Verder was in de tijd van Sint Nicolaas slavernij doodnormaal en ook de Romeinen hadden slaven. Dat waren meestal onderworpen volkeren die veelal blank waren, bijvoorbeeld heidenen of mensen met een andere cultuur of religie, ook vaak Christenen.

@MrBakaBana 16 people in Amsterdam were killed in 2010, 170 in the whole country. That are 8 murders less than in 2009 and 80 less than in 1992.(NOS News and Elsevier murder list) With almost 17.000.000 people living in the Netherlands I don't think that's a high rate.
