It's very tricky which is kind of the point. She is absolutely deaf. But has bionic ears that let here hear. Some people put on glasses in the morning so they can see. Some people get up and put on a false leg so they can run. She gets up and puts on her bionic ears so that she can hear.

Resistance is futile. Pace makers, Jarvik hearts, cochlear implants, corneal implants, bionic limbs. The age we live in is incredible. We already all walk around with an iPhone ear bud or Blue tooth in our ear, the Apple under the skin implant phone can't be far away.

Looking at the big picture, we won the lottery with her. Given all the awful possible outcomes of the illness that took her hearing we count our blessings that it was just her hearing.

I guess the point is hearing was returned to her through technology She could hear at birth... she went totally deaf... and through this amazing technology she was given her hearing back.
