- 1933 Terraplane automobile slogan. Marc Bolan, stoked the fires of melodic melancholy for his blues. Ruptured rolling riff's for Rock' and along the way, stitched or shred, soulfull and silky solo's all the while, making words weave, warble, wander. With wonder.

He made a GIBSON Les Paul grunt and squeal dirty, like few have. His influence can be found in near all those that have followed since.

Marc Bolan is well due official industry recognition, at least collectively by his living peers? He may be looked upon as a cult? Jew boy? sexual enigma? Mebbe he just pissed the wrong person off? I dunno. Marcs music is so way beyond colour, earthly creed or sexual politics. so yeah.. whats that all about, huh??

Try RAW RAMP, The GROOVER, or SLIDER or BALLROOMS OF MARS or DANDY or EXPLOSIVE MOUTH or versions of DAWNSTORM..there are many many gems waiting for you. Sometimes the words seem to just rhyme and sometimes, er, they dont. The guitar work is to the point and solid. The band are always into it.
Tony V. mixed a magnificent carnival picnic into a feast for all.

Marcs Guitars.
The BOLEYGRAIL, a Gibson 59 Les Paul. Rumour is that it was stripped and painted black and is now in the collection of a French citizen, who may or may not know of its true history. It had been stolen from a black transit van, London, in 1976. Marc apparently purchasd the guitar second hand from Jeff Beck. I have read that it was one of three purchased new by Jeff. It started out as a standard "Burst" but Marc had it repainted in a transparent orange finish to match the colour of Eddie Cochrane's Gretsch 6120.

I have heard Marc also owned a 57 Goldtop Les Paul. This may have been in the time of Marcs part with Johns Children.
Marc also had at least one black Custom model Les Paul. The one I am aware of was the guitar used for ELECTRIC WARRIOR.
Marcs final Les Paul was blackish purple (correct description alludes me at the early hour) and was his main guitar for the DANDY IN THE UNDRWORLD album and was prominent in the TV music show Marc hosted.
There were quite a number of Fenders. A Telecaster (used by Mike Oldfield on his Tubular Bells album... I believe this guitar is now owned by Eric Clapton) Marc also owned two Polar white Strats (one of which featured the iconic enamaled tear drop adornment. This "Paisley" Teardrop artwork was a gift to Marc from Chelita Secunda, his wardrobe manager. Marc trashed at least one of these Strats. There was a surf green Fender Jaguar. A Gibson Flying V, a Burns Flyte Rhapsody and a Hayman 1010. Also a hand built and etched Tony Zamaitis (now owned by Paul Mc'Cartney?)
Accoustics.
At least one Gibson Humming Bird. A favourite was an accoustic Epiphone pre Gibson buyout)
