I am a New Media artist working primarily in video. I have also created work in other mediums such as oil painting, sound, and GPS/Locative.

In my work I address and deconstruct the messages fed to us almost constantly from the moment we wake up from radio, TV, internet, print media, and the people around us. Many of these messages try to goad us into selecting their brands and products, but some go so far as to suggest we have no choice but to subscribe to certain ideals to fit into the status quo. They want to tell us how we should feel, what health issues we should put up with, how we should determine what 'quality' is, and even what we think of our natural bodies and the functions thereof. But why should I be ashamed of my menstrual cycle? Why should I try and purchase their "beautiful" life? Why should I be made to feel that only by straightening my hair can I be considered attractive? I like to focus on contrasting what the media tells us and what people really think by exploring individuals views dealing with these issues.

By showing a point of view or several that differ from the messages incessantly beating down upon us, I hope to reveal the lies inherent in messages from the media. As I continue to create art, I believe these messages will always be a focus and foundation of my work.
