About this user
I just recently started popping (the 3rd of October 2010) and I am starting to see a whole new world. It's absolutely fantastic how your imagination can be expressed through dancing.
I'm learning to do the Popping dance. It's a bit tough, but it's an awesome dance style. If you don't know what it is, you can look it up on YouTube. Speaking of YouTube and dancing videos, I will be posting a few videos of my progress in dancing.
Now, I'm going to be frank. Before I discovered dancing and the happiness/awesomeness it brings, I used to have no specialty or anything so much as 'interesting' for me in my life. I had absolutely no talents at all. I didn't do any extracurricular activities like soccer practice or tennis or martial arts or anything like that (I used to when I was a kid, but no more) and after every day, I would come home from school and sit in front of my computer, watching videos on YouTube or playing video games. Or, I would be listening to music. I started to think how I seemed to be some sort of nobody, compared to all these people in the world who have talent... until a friend of mine "introduced" me to dancing. I was fascinated, inspired and mesmerized. I thought to myself that if I was going to have a talent, I was going to start with dancing.
Eventually I discovered TheRussianTiger. He's a great popper and he had instructional videos for beginners to start training to dance the style. I payed for the video, about $24.90 if I can remember correctly... and it was worth it. Now, every time I train through YouTube or watching the easy-to-follow tutorials, I would either learn something new, or hone a technique. And It gives such awesome motivation for me to keep training to be better and better. I was finally able to get popping. By the way, if you would like to start dancing, you should start with tutorials like TheRussianTiger's.
In addition to learning through the tutorial videos I bought, I watch YouTube video tutorials like strobing tutorials, tutting tutorials (etc.) and learn from there as well as being taught by my friends.
Thanks for taking your time to read this too, I know it's pretty big!
