@jacknarcotta The difference is that it goes through different modes keeping one note as the root of each mode eg. A Dorian, A Lydian, A Phrygian, back to A Dorian. It is similar to having a pedal note, but specific in that it uses modal variation instead of diatonic varation. Hope this helps!
