About Me:
I love my family, I love my friends, but most of all I love my God, the Holy Trinity. The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is my driving reason for existing.
I was 13 when I first started to become interested in my faith. I was raised as a typical young Christian in the Catholic Church in the Roman Rite. For most of that time and in my early teens I didn't really care about God, religion, or anything that I felt was uncomfortable. I was more interested in school kids, gosip, you know stuff that everyone around me thought was "cool",but I was in for a whole new perspective.
Noone really talks about religion to much in middle school it seemed to me and I was suprised to hear it come up in conversation at the lunch table. Kids were asking each other, "Do you believe in God?" There was the normal yes, no, I don't know, I don't really care sort of answers, but finally the people looked at me. "Hey Pete, do you believe in God?" I said, "Ya I guess so." "Why?" "Well I don't know I guess it couldn't of all happened by accident I guess." "Do you go to Church?" "Ya my family does. We go to a Catholic Church." That last part didn't make them to happy.
"What? Dude Catholics are stupid. They make all this money and think they are rich and stuff!"
"Well I know we're like the biggest religion, so it would make sense we would have a lot of money."
Not the deepest of debates I've ever had, but I can tell you what I've never had a debate about religion before, or even God for that matter. I went home that day with a different attitude. I went online to find something about the Catholic Church. I was still kinda new to Google at that time so I just simply typed in "Catholic". I was astounded by the results.
I read things I've never heard of before in my life. I read stuff about the anti-Christ, I read about idol worship, I read about Mary worship, sun symbols, paganism, egyptian calenders, and saw countless pictures and red, bold faced lettering describing how evil and diobolical the Catholic Church was. We didn't worship Jesus, we weren't Christians, we were all going to hell!
I was confused. I didn't understand how these people came up with these ideas.
Look, I may have not been the most attentive in the Church, but I went to Mass so many times I sometimes couldn't get Jesus talk and Jesus music out of my head if I even tried! None of this stuff was making sence! Yes, I saw Bible verses and what have you, but I still knew how big the Bible was and that I was not getting the whole picture here.
I felt like I was a detective finding clues about a huge piece of my life that I didn't even know about. I read article after article, argument after argument, debate after debate and countless different faith resource sites. I became facinated by religion. I wanted to know, "Who does this?, why do they do it?, what does this mean?, how does this work?" I couldn't stop!
I from age 13 all the way to now I can't remember a day when I haven't wanted to learn something new about my faith and about every other faith. This passion and desire to learn more about God and the world I live in I can't explain. I was totally uninterested, but yet in one day I suddenly wanted to know more.
Call it whaever you want to call it, but I've simply reached the conclusion that God was calling me to him. He had a plan for me from the start. He planted the seed of curiosity in me and it has begun to grow into my calling in life.
I am now a first year college studying for my associates teaching degree. I plan on becoming a theology/philosophy professor and teach in a major Catholic College. I want to become an expert in Catholic Apologetics and a master in Catholic Teaching and Philosophy. But most of all, I want to serve my God and with my life to help others see the truth of His son Jesus Christ. I want God to save others through the calling he has given me. I want to show people the great gift of the Church God has left for us on this earth through my profession. I want everyone who comes to this channel to know, that I love you and care deeply for your eternal happiness. If you want to leave a comment, or send me a PM, or have a question, I will do what I can to the best of my ability to answer you.
