The Chicago History Museum's Studs Terkel Center for Oral History and the City Club of Chicago are pleased to share with you Twenty-eight interviews featuring contemporaries of Mayor Richard J. Daley. The interviews include several key figures from the elder Mayor Daley's time in office, including the mayor's bodyguard, and former CPD officer, Vance Gavin who Daley met while being rescued during the Chicago Blizzard of 1967, and Ed Kelly, the former head of the Park District, who discusses years of regret for turning the Mayor away on the day he died because he was too busy.
