Artist and former opera singer living in Cornwall UK. Favourite singers include Virginia Zeani, Oda Slobodskaya, Rosa Ponselle, Lotte Lehmann, Jon Vickers, Richard Tauber, Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, Regine Crespin.

I am now on a mission to make more widely known the singing of the late ODA SLOBODSKAYA and the gloriously alive VIRGINIA ZEANI. These truly great but far too little known sopranos were shamefully overlooked by the recording industry, and the recital discs they did make have never been fully reissued on CD. The marvel of YouTube helps me to redress this injustice and introduce their peerless work to a new audience.

Despite their different nationalities both sopranos were taught by pupils of Natalia Itretskaya who was herself a pupil of Pauline Viardot Garcia. This links them right back to Rossini, for Pauline Viardot's father was Manuel Garcia, the first Count in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and her sister was Maria Malibran".

There are also videos here of my life in Cornwall where I paint and still occasionally sing. My village has a thriving community, with gig rowing, swimming, sailing and serious dramatics. For the Golden Jubilee in 2002 we re-staged the Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II and will do so again on 4th June 2012. . . watch this space.
